How do we start the accreditation process?
If you are ready to begin the accreditation process, you first submit an application for candidacy to CCIE. You may access the application from this webpage. After the application is received, an invoice will be sent for the application fee.
What are the requirements in order to apply for accreditation?
To be eligible to apply for accreditation, a program must:
- be at an institution with regional accreditation,
- have a capstone internship/practicum component and
- have graduated at least three classes.
Is accreditation available for interpreting programs at all levels?
CCIE currently accredits two-year (e.g., Associates) and four-year (e.g., Bachelors) degree programs. At this time, CCIE does not accredit graduate level programs.
How long is the accreditation process?
The length of time can vary depending on a number of factors, but typically, a program has one calendar year from the time the application is accepted to complete the self study process and submit the self-study report (SSR). That SSR is reviewed in typically 2-3 months time and if a site visit is granted, that occurs in the 3-4 months following approval of the SSR. A typically timeframe from submission of an application to an accreditation decision is 18 months.

What type of evidence do we need to provide in the Self-study Report (SSR)?
There is a variety of evidence documents that will need to be submitted as part of the SSR and the best place to locate a list of evidence is in the CCIE Standards document itself. Under each standard, the evidence required is identified.
